A Christmas Carol audiobook for you, Staves 1 & 2
2023/12/02
The holidays are a weird, fun, horrifying, heartwarming, exciting, exhausting, beautiful, miserable time. So we thought we'd make an audiobook for you. Here, I'm reading the first two staves--up through the journey to Christmas past--of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol for you (beautifully edited by Miranda Zickler and produced by Carolyn Kendrick). Expect the next ghosts in a couple of weeks.
I grew up watching the George C. Scott-as-Scrooge version of this story, which my parents taped off KOIN on Christmas Ever, 1989 (which means my Christmas memories also involve watching, year after year, news of the ouster of Ceaușescu and Noriega. Which, now that I think of it, seems pretty fitting). So what I'm saying is, if you want to make me cry out of pure nostalgia about ten seconds, play this TJ Maxx ad for me.

(No, it's never, ever the same place twice.)
I hope you enjoy this special project--I've been wanting to make a public domain audiobook for you for a while, so please let me know if you have more book ideas for 2024. And no matter what your month and your holiday season and your New Year's is like, thank you for being there with us through all of 2023. We couldn't have done it without you. I couldn't have done it without you. You're everything. We're just Ken.
Love,
Sarah
